Brass is a metal alloy consisting mostly of copper and zinc. American Standard smelts its own brass to ensure a precisely blended and consistent alloy. The molten brass is poured into heated permanent metal molds made of beryllium copper. Waterways are created through the use of a sand core held together by a resin. The core burns off when contacted by the molten brass, releasing the sand grains to freely shake out of the cooled casting
The next step is machining, using computer-guided lathes and milling machines to create threads, precise diameters and dimensions. We then put our faucets through grinding and polishing using sanding belts and buffing pads to transform rough parts to a mirror-like surface (right). Your customers can get stylish faucets from just about any brand, but they can only get the inside beauty of performance and durability from you and your American Standard faucets.
